Stairway to Heaven is an account of the author's pilgrimage to Lord Shiva's abode in the remote fastness of Tibetan Himalayas. Both Hindus and Buddhists consider Kailash and Mansarovar, the holy mountain and lake, as the cosmic centre of the universe, the navel of the earth. As he breathlessly explores the hide outs of Shiva and his consort, Parvati, the author narrates his adventures with his marvellous talent for mirth and irreverence. Punctuated by cracking yarns, humorous asides and digressive interludes, the book is a consuming and headlong read.
